We’ve all heard the news about today’s hottest new hair trend, the Brazilian Blowout, but is it really all that? To find out what people in Denver are saying after receiving the Brazilian Blowout by Global Keratin, we decided to go straight to the source. With over 100 clients trying out the new Juvenix system at Salon Misha at One Broadway, we knew we could find an experience worth talking about. Here are Denver’s top 5 results…

5. MY HAIR SMELLS GREAT!

That’s right. The Global Keratin Treatment with Juvexin even smells good. Clients love that after receiving a Brazilian Blowout their hair smells fruity and fresh. With a mixture of proteins caramelizing onto the hair, the Brazilian Blowout will leave you smelling like chocolate or strawberry for days.

4. IT’S LIKE A FACE LIFT FOR THE HAIR.

Who wouldn’t want their hair to look stronger and healthier? Juvexin is non-hydrolyzed and therefore actually helps the keratin proteins bond to the hair. The result is shiner, healthier, younger looking hair. A must have for Denver’s harsh and drying climate.

3. MY HAIR IS SO SOFT NOW.

Speaking of harsh climates, Denver’s sun wreaks havoc on our hair. The Brazilian Blowout actually works to fuse the hair cuticle which in turn produces less frayed hair overall. The result is all over soft, manageable hair.

2. STRAIGHTENING MY OWN HAIR IS EASY!

Remember the days when you would spend hours straightening each small section of hair just to get to a look that is just okay? With the Brazilian Blowout, straightening your own hair is fast and easy. After receiving the Global Keratin Treatment most clients report being able to straighten their own hair with fabulous results. Looking like you just stepped out of the salon, but without the salon appointment is a great way to get the day started!

1. I CAN JUST WASH AND GO!

We’ve all heard that the Brazilian Blowout allows you to dry your hair faster than ever before. We can’t argue with that! But what you may not have heard is how well your hair looks if you just let it air dry. The Brazilan Blowout creates a more relaxed, no frizzy curl that when air dried often results in that “just stepped off the beach hair look” and clients are absolutely loving it!

With so many great things coming out about this latest hair craze, the Brazilian Blowout seems to be a solid hit. For more information check out http://www.globalkeratin.com/. Appointments can be made locally by calling Salon Misha at One Broadway http://www.mishabelfer.com/.

Salon Misha is competing for Denver’s Best Hair Salon. The Channel 7 KMGH A List aims to get Denver voter’s opinions on the best of the best businesses. Honest reviews and recommendations from our own neighbors guide us to new finds and help us support local business.

“I am honored to be in the running and I hope this nomination will allow new clients the chance to explore my salon,” said salon owner Misha Belfer.

Belfer is no stranger to competition, as a professional ballroom dancer, he was recently a contestant on “So You Think You Can Dance.” This year has really given him the opportunity to take both of his passions, hairstyling and dance, to the next level.

He discovered his interest an innate talent for hairstyling when as a young ballroom dancer, he would style his partners’ hair for competitions. This blossomed into a career and he now cuts and coifs the hair of Denver socialites, debutantes and brides. But you don’t have to be a bold name to look fabulous, Belfer will help you find a look that is uniquely you.

His salon is at One Broadway in Downtown Denver, but he has recently expanded to 7148 E. County Line Road near Park Meadows in order to be more accessible and to expand his clientele. Salon Misha is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. so you won’t find anyone more accommodating.

And Belfer isn’t the only expert on the Salon Misha team. Annie Brenman-West is there for all of your hand and nails needs, Sally Freeman and Tiffany McCray for makeup application, Sara Bicknell for color and Babette LeGaspe for extensions, straigtening and updos. Salon Misha is a one-stop shop for special occasions and when you walk out the door you are guaranteed to be photogenic. We also offer trial applications in advance so you can test drive your look and eliminate any element of surprise.

If you are a client of Salon Misha we invite you to vote for us at http://kmgh.cityvoter.com/salon-misha/biz/429028 before polls close on September 19th. We appreciate all your support and we would love to know what you think of your experience with us.

Well, Nigel, it’s your show so I’m sure you can, but it will draw national attention, and maybe even change the way the media and thus society view gender roles. Misha Belfer and dance partner Mitchell Kibel performed on “So You Think You Can Dance?” The judges, particularly Nigel Lythgoe, made it clear they did not accept a male to male dance team and found it inferior to a traditional male to female partnership. Belfer and Kibel were showing their versatile range of talent by switching and interchanging lead roles as judges scoffed.

It also insulted Belfer and Kibel’s dance experience when Lythgoe suggested they ought to dance with women and followed it up with “try it, you might even enjoy it” as though they became professional ballroom dancers without dancing with female partners.

We know Fox is politically conservative but we would like to see them act conservatively when it comes to their portrayal of reality show contestants as well. Many critics believe one shock-jock style commentator’s opinion can be overcome, but the way Fox as an entire network handled the situation was inexcusable. Viewers claim the footage was edited to dramatize the homosexual connotation of the Samba performed by Belfer and Kibel, the use of the song “It’s Raining Men” was stereotypical and patronizing, but the exit song “It’s a man’s world, but it would mean nothing without a woman” was downright offensive. In case you missed it, view the clip here.

Lythgoe said the male to male dance partnership would alienate the audience but it seems as though he was the one alienating. He faced a backlash from viewers and gay rights activists and issued an apology in the New York Times. The apology was directed to the homosexual community more than to Belfer and Kibel as individuals.

So much press was received, Belfer and Kibel are practically household names, or at least introducing households to a new perspective in the media. Columnist Bill Husted of the Denver Post said, “Denver salon owner, Misha Belfer, knows he can dance but he wasn’t ready for the homophobic barbs he suffered at Fox’s ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ tryouts, aired nationally on May 21.”

Perez Hilton “celebrity juice, not from concentrate” is just the first of many blogs ranting about “So You Think You Can Dance” and has posted a photo of Lythoge labeled with a hate message and filed under “icky icky poo”. US Magazine, and The LA Times are on the list of newspapers that picked up on the story as well as local papers everywhere. They also appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Soup. His feature story in Out Front Colorado is on newsstands July 1, 2009.

Misha Belfer took a stand for gay dancers who favor male partners, Mitchel Kibel stood up for straight men who prefer to dance with male partners and these men together are showing America that talented dancers should be free to choose who they dance with, including on national television. Same sex ballroom dancing is emerging as an art form and a sport of its own. They will compete in the 2009 World Outgames in Copenhagen this summer and will continue to perfect their art when they return to the United States. It’s rumored they may begin same sex dance lessons in Denver upon their return. This is a new kind of dance dance revolution.

When he’s not on the dance floor, Misha Belfer is the owner and operator of Salon Misha at 1 Broadway in Denver, CO 80203. His clientele include media celebrities, socialites, business and community leaders and women who simply like their hairstyle to be current and draw lots of compliments. Belfer also styles men’s hair. He’s known as the wedding hair stylist of choice, traveling to weddings to prep the entire bridal party, and he’s regarded as one of the finest colorists in the Rocky Mountain Region.

Call his salon for an appointment today at 303-722-5400.

And don’t miss Misha Belfer’s send-off gala to compete in the 2009 World Out Games in Denmark this summer. Buy tickets for the celebration to be held Saturday, July 18 at 7 p.m. by calling 303-722-5400.
